Are there any hipsters here?

Since the 1920s, these characteristic buildings have produced porcelain under the Gische brand, which gained a reputation throughout Europe until the outbreak of the world war II. Unfortunately, with the nationalization of the brand in communist times, production collapsed, and with it, the buildings in the entire complex began to be neglected.

For years, the forgotten areas of the Porcelain Factory in Katowice have recently regained their industrial character in a slightly changed form. It’s one of the perfect example of the protection of the post-industrial which attracts now many people.

Today, in this technology and business park, there are not only famous Silesian brands with their new headquarters and show rooms, but it’s also one of the underground cultural centre of Katowice. Various events are organized here, like techno and house parties in club P23 (which all lovers of niche music must visit!), also you can eat a really good lunch here, or dinner in a bistro, or spend time visiting one of the temporary exhibitions in the gallery. In summer, it is worth visiting the Night Markets (they are organized some summer weekends), which have been popular in recent years.

What's more, this place is getting more popular because of some interesting projects like cameral concerts and art festivals organized here. Some time ago, the Porcelain Factory has become an urban art centre - new fantastic murals are being created that have a unique contrast to industrial, brick buildings.

If you are interested in what happened to the porcelain, it will still be fired in one of the furnaces, so despite the changes here, the factory has not ceased to exist and is an incredibly interesting place, worth seeing!
