City of stars...

...are you shining just for me?

Isn't that what Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling sang in the La La Land movie about L.A.? I guess it was something like that... However, she could also sing the same about Katowice!

Ok, maybe the stars in Silesia are not so bright, but they are certainly more surprising. If I were only to mention twenty-four-story apartment blocks, built during the times of deep communism in Poland, there would probably be nothing worth attention here. BUT, the shape of these towers is really interesting and bold for the architecture of that time. Seven eight-pointed buildings, each 81 meters high, create an amazing panorama of the eastern part of the city centre. Each tower is inhabited by up to 700 people, making it one of the biggest housing estates in the region.

The inhabitants of Katowice used to joke that despite the breath-taking views from the top floors of skyscrapers, these apartments are one of the cheapest in the city, because the city of Sosnowiec can be seen from them. 😁
